100 Year
Celebration

(June 3, 2010)

Text Box: Tecumseh (Main) has approximately 520 students in the care of about 50 staff (including an Area Counselor based at the school, as well as office space for an itinerant First Nations Support Worker, Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing and Speech Language Pathologist).

The Tecumseh building is a three-story brick structure circa 1910/1912; however, it has undergone a four million dollar renovation in 1996/1997. The school has been seismically upgraded and has a new gymnasium, providing a full Kindergarten to Grade Seven physical education program, as well as extracurricular team sports and noon-hour games. There is an adjacent multipurpose room used as a lunchroom and additional gym space. The multipurpose room and two outbuildings used as classrooms provide space for independent, after-school Chinese Heritage Language classes.

The PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) is active and provides one avenue for involvement in the school. Parent volunteers are welcome and frequent contact with PAC members and other helpers is encouraged.
